BOUGHT AND SOLD (what price are you willing to pay)
BOUGHT AND SOLD (what price are you willing to pay), Mustard Yellow Poverty Flats Tote, Leather, and Acrylic, 17”x11” One of a Kind, with a removable inside pouch, 2021
While thinking of the inevitable color schema of Mcdonald's, this bag brought me to concepts around commodification, greed, and gluttony. “What price are you willing to pay?” is equally as literal as it is existential. This piece also pays homage to Barbara Kruger's pivotal questions asked in the 1990s: "who is beyond the law? who is bought and sold? who follows orders? who is free to choose?” that are printed on the opposing side.
