"Bolero Nights" is registered #33 on our authenticity database.
The name of the garment, its registration number and Clare's signature are recorded on the back of the Declare panel that has been sewn inside the jacket.
The Song: "Slave to the Rhythm" by Grace Jones...named partly for the love of this flamboyant performer who has always refused to conform to perceptions of gender, but also for the sensual and sultry vibe that the song illicits.
The Name: “Bolero Nights” was chosen for this upcycled artwork for several reasons; first and foremost because the jacket has been cut off to reflect the classic Spanish style design. Also, the Bolero is a style of dance, tying into the song's lyrics about the rhythm of life. The third reason is because of the sexy finesse the garment evokes, worn for nights out on the town in style.
The Design: With a vision that consisted of an elegantly edgy mix, romance with a dash of attitude was key in bringing you this design. Contrasting a fitted, cropped jacket that sits snugly around your bodice, the long flamboyant brushed silk sleeves* have you take centre stage as your arms move, with their tiny dangling beads swishing lightly over the hands.
The upstanding collar is lined in black satin for comfort, boasting a sparkling silver faux gem embellishment that ties into the drama of the heavily sequinned back panel. Reclaimed from an evening dress, the abstract, monochromatic triangular pattern drops to the waist, finished with small edgy zig zags.
Bolero Nights is comfortably lined to the bodice in sleek black satin, making it not only a statement piece for a glam night out, but will have you partying the night away with ease.
* Please note: On the very rare occasion that we do select embellishments such as silk or feathers, they arereclaimed, so our respect for the earth does not wane.
