Pamut is a women owned line of hand made women’s apparel. The Pamut line is inspired by the connection between field and garment. Therefore, each piece is handcrafted from natural fibers only (including organic cotton, linen, and silk.) In addition to working with GOTS certified organic fibers or recycled fibers whenever possible, Pamut also strives to be very selective of who they work with. They partner with North Carolina sewing, dyeing, and printing facilities that prioritize sustainable practices and are worker-owned. A great example is Opportunity Threads in Valdese, NC. OT relies on the skills of their employees, former immigrants and descendants of immigrants, to craft all of Pamut’s organic tees. OT is worker-owned and the majority of their employees are women.
Pamut highly values a community-positive supply chain. The team has examined every part of the supply chain, from field to finished garment, in order to create a low impact product that benefits every worker and laborer along the way. Since the laborers are working with raw materials they are less likely to be exposed to harmful chemicals, pesticides, and dyes. The team feels strongly that sustainable fashion should be inclusive, so each piece is made in XS-XL, with custom sizing available at no extra charge.
